We believe the man on the right is John Wesley Kirkbride.

The following is courtesy of Eileen Thomas:

Elston Levi Kirkbride, a butcher, was born at Archers Fork, Feb. 6 1855, the son of William and Wealtly Decker Kirkbride. He married Mathilda Scott on Apr. 23, 1879.   She was born in1862 and died in 1943.   They had six children:  John, William, Amos, Mrs. Dwight Smith, Mrs. J.E. Carpenter, Mary Kirkbride.  For 35 years he ran the meat and grocery market.  He died Mar. 13,1934.

These post cards were sent to us by Sherry Hendricks Sholl.  She is the daughter of Ralph Hendricks of Reno and the cousin of Ralph Hendricks of Newport.

The third picture labeled "out west."  Sherry sent us the following note:

I believe the postcard "Bringing in the
Overland" is in Texas.  It is dated Feb. 2-1914 and signed S.S.P.  I came across
some land documents from a lawyer Geo. S. Bond Lubock, Texas sent to my
grandmother Ora Paden Kirkbride dated Dec. 23, 1957 stating that her father,
S.S. Paden owned this land with Elise R. Schmid and Arthur Schmid who were
petitioning the court in Reeves Cty. to cancel the Subdivision.  It states that
it contains 307.55 acres of land, save and except the Right of Way of the Pecos
Railroad Co. and the Pioneer Canal Co.  I have a copy of a letter written by my
grandmother asking why they waited 35 years to notify them they owned the land,
and letting them know none of the 5 children would be able to make the court
date of Jan. 13th, 1958 to oppose it.  They wanted to know if they could pay the
back taxes and reclaim the land, I cannot find any response from the lawyer.  I
guess someday we need to go to Texas.
