Alma Leona Pearl Joy Beaver

NEW MATAMORAS — Alma Leona Pearl Joy Beaver, 74, of Williamson Avenue died at 10 am. Sunday May 30, 2004) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 12, 1930, in Wade, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clyde Joy and the late Rachel Farnsworth Joy. She had attended Newport schools and enjoyed reading and working in her flowers. She was a member of the Church of God in New Matamoras.

On Nov. 9, 1947, she was married to Edward E. Beaver who survives with one son, Edward L. Beaver and his wife, Gala, of New Matamoras; three daughters, Beverly Mendenhall and her husband, Doyle, and Christine Smith and her husband, Mike, all of Newport, and Melissa Knowlton and her husband, Ronald, of Marietta; two brothers, George Joe” Joy and his wife, Shirley, and Clyde Joy Jr. and his wife, Vicki: seven sisters, Mary Jane Ward and her husband, Kenneth, Glenda Beaver, Grace Decker, Alice Malone, Jenny Joy, Marilyn “Sue” Harris and her husband, Richard, arid Patsy Linton and her husband, Mike; and one aunt, Ann Farnsworth of Reno. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Michelle (Mendenhall) Larsen, Lori Mendenhall, Rachel (Beaver) Barnes, Olivia (Beaver) Sparks, Rebecca Beaver, Ellen (Beaver) Rumpff, Julie (Beaver) Dean, Casey Almond, Lacey (Almond) Prim, Steven Beaver and Logan Smith; six great-grandchildren, Joseph Barnes, Jacob Barnes, Hannah Barnes, Brandon Larsen, Elizabeth Dean and Courtlyn Prim; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she as preceded in death by one son, Michael Beaver; and two brothers, Harold “Pete” Joy and Lawrence Joy.

Funeral services will be held at 30 p.m. Tuesday at Parr Hill church with David Beaver officiating. Interment will be in Parr Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home from noon today until noon Tuesday and at the church for one hour prior to the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alma Beaver Memorial Fund, in care of Beverly Mendenhall, 13 Charles St., Newport, Ohio 45768.

Bryan ‘Sonny’ Beaver Jr.

Bryan “Sonny” Beaver Jr., 79, former resident of Jaycee Estates and the Newport area, died Tuesday (July 5, 2005) in Harmar Place.

He was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Beavertown, a son of the late Bryan Graham Beaver Sr. and Alice Spurr Beaver He attended school in New Matamoras and had worked construction in the Beaver family business for years. One of his greatest accomplishments was getting his commercial-pilot license. He was taught to fly by the late Bernard Covey. He flew numerous times with Gen. Chuck Yeager, the famous astronaut.

On May 10, 1952, he married Anna Marie Stewart. They had been married for 37 years at the time of her death on Dec. 12, 1989.

He is survived by two sons, Roy (Michelle) Beaver and Jeff (Cathy) Beaver, both of Marietta; 13 grand children, Anna (Brian) Kemenah of Parkersburg, Bryan (Jennifer) Beaver of Columbus, Austin Ide of Marietta, Roy Beaver Jr. of Marietta, Cheyenne Beaver and Isaiah Beaver of Marietta, Joshua Beaver of Dublin, Chad Beaver of Marietta, and William, Dana, Timmy, Laura, and Priscilla Ide of Columbus; and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Edward Beaver of Jaycee Estates; one half brother Bryan Graham Beaver Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters-in-law, Glenda Beaver of Beavertown and Ruth Moore of Waverly, WVa.; his long-time friend and caregiver, Betty Beaver; and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Lynn Ide, and one brother, Danford Beaver.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am. Saturday at the McClure Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Jimmy Taylor and Tim Nichols officiating. Interment will be in Parr Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. today until the hour of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Blanche M. Beaver

NEW MATAMORAS — Blanche May Beaver, 84, of New Matamoras Rt.. 3, died at 9 am. Thursday in Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1898, in Monroe County to David and Elizabeth Soles Merckle.

She is survived by a daughter, Alma Thomas of New Matamoras; three grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren and a brother, Delbert Merckle of Breman. Three sons, Raymond, David and Clifford, five brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Parr Hill Church with the Rev. Frank Conley officiating. Burial will be in Parr Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Saturday at the Hadley Funeral Home at New Matamoras.

Veryle ‘Cotton’ Beaver

BEAVERTOWN - Veryle “Cotton” Beaver, 91, of Beavertown died Sunday (Aug. 29, 1999) at Heartland of Marietta. He was born March 16, 1908, in Beavertown to Lew and Sylvia Beaver. He had worked in construction and was a self-employed painter. He attended Beavertown United Methodist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Ann Lauer of Sardis two Sons, Billy and Lonnie Beaver, both of Beaver New Matamoras 13 grandchildren great and 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Eloise Berga Beaver, in 1983; one daughter, Patty Merckle, in 1998; one great granddaughter; and one brother.

Services are at 11 am. Wednesday at Ruttencutterr Funeral Home in St. Marys, W.Va., with the Rev. Frank Conley officiating. Burial is in Parr 1-1111 Cemetery in Beavertown Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 11 am. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Raymond Ray ‘Bugs’ Beaver

NEW MATAMORAS — Raymond Ray “Bugs” Beaver, 74 of New Matamoras, died at 4 p.m. Saturday (June 4 2005) at Muskingum Valley Rehabilitation, Beverly.

He was born Aug. 4 1930, in Beavertown Ohio, a’ son of Raymond ‘“Doc” and Eunice Pritchitt Beaver. He was a truck driver for Main Star Oil Company, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by one son, Michael R. Beaver, of New Matamoras; two daughters, Debbie Morris of Newport and Toni Pope of New Matamoras; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Dean Beaver and his wife, Shirley, of Newport; and one sister, Mildred Smith, of Reno, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Vernon “Johnny Boy” Beaver; and one sister, Margaret Berga.

Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday at the Parr Hill Community Church, Beavertown, Ohio, with David Beaver officiating. Burial will be in Parr Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras Chapel. Military services will be held at the grave- side.

ALICE E. BEAVER -

Alice Evelyn Beaver, 74, New Matamoras, O., died last week at her home.

She was born Feb. 6, 1907, in West Union to William and Sarah Weekley Spurr. She was a member of Christian Church at West Union.

On April 14, 1924, she married Bryan G. Beaver Sr., who died .June 17, 1976.

She is survived by two sons, Bryan G. Jr. of Newport and Edward of New Matamoras; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one brother, Earl H. Weekley of Blasdell, N.Y.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Danford Lee, and two brothers.

The funeral was held Saturday at the Hadley Funeral Home at New Matamoras with the Rev. Frank Conley officiating. Burial was in the Parr Hill Cemetery.

William Beaver Jr.

ST. MARYS — William “Willie” Jr., 16, of Route 2, St. Marys, died Wednesday evening.

He was born in Willoughby, Ohio, a son of William L. Beaver and Pam Blouir Martino of St. Marys. He was a student at St. Marys High School, a member of the wrestling team, and 1he Future Farmers of America.

Surviving, beside his parents, are a brother, Darren Beaver at home; two sisters, Mrs. Diana Cottrill of St. Marys, and Sheila Beaver at home; a half-sister, Angela Adams; five step sisters, Lisa Martino, and Julie Martino, both at home, Susie Atkinson of Parkersburg; Sherry Martino and June Martino, both of Columbus; a stepbrother, Joey Martino of Columbus; maternal grandparents Charles and Dorothy Straight of Belmont, and paternal grandparents, Quinton and Sallie Beaver of St. Marys.

Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., the Ruttencutter Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the St. Marys IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today.

Charles Beaver

1983

Charles “Lindy” Beaver, 56, of New Matamoras, died Thursday afternoon at his home following an illness.

He was born at Beavertown, Ohio, a son of Martha Eddy Beaver of Beavertown and the late Ray Beaver. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Matamoras Post 378, American Legion, and the Beavertown United Methodist Church. He had been a truck driver until his retirement eight years ago due to ill health.

Surviving beside his mother are his wife, Fannie Williamson Harris Beaver; two stepsons and four step daughters, Paul Harris and Richard Harris, both of Newport, Mrs. Debris Hadley of Fort Myers, Fla., Mrs. Lois Cline of Beavertown, Mrs. Jackie Graham of Marietta and Mrs. Clara Wynn of Sardis; 24 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepson.

Services will be Sunday, 2:30 p.m., at McClure-Schafer Funeral Home, Marietta, with the Rev. Frank Connolly officiating. Burial will be in Parr Hill Cemetery with military rites at the grave.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

B. Pauline Beaver

ZANESVILLE — B. Pauline Beaver, 62. of 130 Fox Ave. died Wednesday (Sept. 9. 1992) at her home. Her home had been at Marietta before she moved to Zanesville.

She was born April 1, 1930, at Archers Fork in Washington County to John and Alma Patterson Harris. She attended Newport High School.

She married Richard Roy Beaver on Sept. 10, 1947. He died Aug. 18, 1980. She also was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Beaver is survived by one son, Richard P. Beaver of Zanesville; three daughters. J. Lynn Lindsey and Mrs. Joyce Anderson, both of Parkersburg, and Susan Farley of Zanesville; eight grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Marge Harris and Carmen Lauer, both of Marietta Route 5.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in McClure-Schafer Funeral Home with the Rev. David Sommerville officiating. Burial will be in Tunnel Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. today until the hour of the services at the funeral home, where the family will be present to meet friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

William ‘Bill’ Beaver

ST. MARYS, W.Va. — William “Bill” Beaver of St. Marys Route 1 died Saturday (Jan. 9, 1999) at his home.

He was born in Pleasants County, W.Va., to Quinton and Sally Boley Beaver. He was a member of Laborers Local Union 1085 in Parkersburg.

He is survived by five children, Sheila Parks of Belmont, W.Va. Diana Cottrill of Batavia, Ohio, Darren Beaver of St. Mays, Angela Adams of Marietta and Billy Beaver of Greenmont, W.Va.; one brother, Quinton Bradford of McMinnville. Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, William Beaver.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. Marys with the Rev. Roy Cox officiating. Burial is in St. Marys IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Barbara E. Beaver

PARKERSBURG — Barbara E. Beaver (Isner), 87, of 4424 15th Avenue Parkersburg died at St. Joseph Hospital Saturday alter a short illness.

She was born Aug. 11, 1902, in Randolph County, W.Va., to John and Luvernia Harr Isner.

She grew up in Randolph County. She attended the Jefferson Baptist Temple in Parkersburg.

Survivors include two sons, Acie W. Beaver of Parkersburg and Gary David Beaver of Tampa, Fla., four grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rueben S. Beaver in 1967; four sisters; and one brother. She will lie in state for one hour.

Services will be at the Jefferson Baptist Temple 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Harley Bailey and the Rev. William H. Bailey Jr. will officiate.

Visitation will be all day today at the Spencer Funeral Home in Belpre.
