Linda Louise Biehl

Marietta Times, October 27, 1987

Linda Louise Biehl, 49, of Marietta Rt. 8 died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, in her home after a long illness.

She was born April 30, 1938, in Newport to Frank Dean and Thelma

K. Schultheis Martin. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was vice president and secretary for JOB Inc.

She is survived by her husband, James O. Biehl; one son, Bradford J. of Reno; one daughter, Jill Louise Biehl of Irvine, Calif.; two grand. daughters; her mother, Thelma Martin of Marietta; and one brother, Bernard N. Martin of Newport.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday In Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Sagendorf officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at Hadley Funeral Home at Marietta from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and at the church one hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pastors Fund, Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St., Marietta.

Mrs. Delbert Biehl

June 1977

Mrs. Martha P. Biehl, 74, Moss Run, died at 4 a.m. today in Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 24 1902, at Archers Fork, a daughter of Alfred and Mary Lennington Eddy She was a member of Eddys Ridge Church of Christ. For 53 years, Mrs. Biehl had been owner of a grocery store at Moss Run.

Her husband Delbert, to whom she was married Dec. 3, 1924, died Jan. 5, 1950.

Four sons and one daughter survive: D. Duane and Richard Biehl, both of Moss Run; Cecil, Marietta Rt. 1 James, Marietta, and Mrs. Edward (Joan) Rose, Bloomingdale. Mrs. John (Gladys) Thomas Sr., Reno, is a stepdaughter. There are 15 grand children, eight great and two sisters, Mrs. Effie Haynes, Belpre and Mrs. Marie Scott, Marietta. Three brothers, one sister and a g preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in 1 Funeral Rome, with Evang. Claude Davis 0 and burial in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 this evening.

Winfrey Marion Blair

Winfrey Marion Blair, 63, of 421 Fourth St. died at 6 p.m. Saturday at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

Blair was born in Winnfield, La., a son of the late Robert Marcus and Sue Readheimer Blair. He had resided in Marietta the past year and was a retired school teacher for the Texas Public School system. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Robert (Janeen) Kirkbride of Marietta; a son, Dwight of Deer Park, Texas; five grandchildren; four brothers, Eldon, Bobbie and Corbia of Winnifield, La., and A. E. Blair of Jonesville, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Sue Rhame of De Ridder, La. And Mrs. Bonnie McMurry of Selma, Ala. He was preceded in death by a brother, Readheimer Blair.

Services will be conducted at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home…

Dorothy M. Blatt

August 8, 1985

Dorothy M. Pfeiffer Blatt, 81, of Marietta Rt. 2 died Thursday evening in Selby General Hospital.

She was born May 20, 1904, at Pine Ridge, Washington County, to George William and Sada Julietta “Etta” Athey Pfeiffer. She attended Washington County Schools and graduated from the Butler County Hospital School of Nursing 1926 and from the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1925. She was a member of the Bethel Lighthouse Church and the k Ladies Guild. She had been employed as a registered nurse at Selby General Hospital until her retirement in 1947 and had also done private duty nursing.

On Nov. 29, 1928, she married Carlos Bate, who preceded her in death. One son, George Bate, also preceded her in death.

On Oct. 26, 1937, she married William A. Blatt, who died in 1983.

Survivors include a brother, Dr. Carroll Athey Pfeiffer of Orlando, Fla., and a niece. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Dr. Georgianna Pfeiffer, D.O.

Services will be 10:30a.m. Tuesday in McClure-Schafer Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Rutherford officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lawrence Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from Saturday afternoon until the hour of the service.

Gerald R. Bleakley

Gerald R. Bleakley, 68, of Marietta Rt. 8 died at 1 a.m. today, April 30, in Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Newport to Clarence and Elizabeth Bogard Bleakley. He had been an operating engineer and was employed by Shelly & Sands at the time of his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, was a member of American Legion Post 64. Washington County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5108, Pioneer City Chapter Disabled American Veterans (life member), International Union of Operating Engineers and Frontier CB Radio Club.

He was married Feb. 12, 1947, to the former Fay Medley, who survives with one son, James G. of Manassas, Va.; two daughters. Mrs. Robert (Judy) Addison of Youngstown and Mrs. Robert (Jane) Lee of Covington. Ga.; 11 grandchildren; one great- grandchild; three brothers, Clarence “Jack” Jr. of Salem, Thomas of Newport and Patrick of Matamoras; and five sisters, Mrs. James (Betty) Berga and Mrs. Neil (Sandra) Herlan, both of Newport, Mrs. Ralph (Joan) Miller of St. Marys, W.Va., Mrs. Boyd (Lucille) Hearn of Indianapolis,Ind., and Mrs. James (Donna) DeLong of Woodsfield.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Harvey O.; and one sister, Anna M. Berga.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in McClure-Schafer Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home.

John Clarence Bleakley

NEWWPORT — John Clarence Bleakley, 75, of Green Street died at 7 am. Sunday in Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 29, 1905 at Broad Run in Pleasants County to Harvey and Mary Boley Bleakley. He spent his whole life at Washington County and was a carpenter. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 356.

He was married to Elizabeth Bogard who preceded him in death in1965. He is survived by four sons, Gerald Richard Bleakley of Reno, John Clarence Bleakley Jr. of Salem, James Thomas Bleakley of Newport and Patrick R. Bleakley of New Matamoras Rt. 1; five daughters, Mrs. James (Betty) Berga and Mrs. Neil (Sandra) Herlan of New port. Mrs. Ralph (Joan) Miller of St. Marys, W.Va., Mrs. James (Donna) DeLong of Woodsfield and Mrs. Boyd (Lucille) Hearn of Indianapolis, Ind. There 31 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Harvey G. Bleakley; daughter, Anna Maxine Berga; brother Clyde Bleakley, and sister, Dessie.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in McClure-Schafer Funeral Home with Charles Newell officiating. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery: Friends may call the funeral home.
