Theresa Chambers
Theresa Joanne Farley Chambers, 20, died Tuesday in an accident near Ohio 26.
She was born in Marietta, a daughter of Loren and Joanne Douglas Farley. She was a graduate of Frontier High School. She was a member of the Swain Community Church at Rinard Mills, the Lawrence Baptist Women’s Missionary Society, and was a probationary member of the Little Muskingum Volunteer Fire Department.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Eugene Chambers; an infant son, Brandon Scott Chambers, at home; one brother, Robert Dale Farley of Fullerton, Calif.; one sister, Cynthia Dianne Farley of Columbus; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Farley of Rinard Mills; and Mary E. Douglas of Newport, Ohio.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Sallee of the Vinton Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Lawrence Cemetery.

NEWPORT — Josie Grace Childress, daughter of Will and Katy Carpenter Childress of Newport, died Wednesday (March 31, 2004) at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident north of St. Marys, W.Va.
She was born Aug. 2, 2002, in Marietta.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Steve and Sandra Carpenter of Caldwell; paternal grandparents, Tom and Mary Childress of Marietta; maternal great-grandparents, Dorothy Carpenter, and James and Marilyn Warner of Summerfield; paternal great-grandparents, William and Peggy Bishop of Atlanta, Ga.; paternal great- great-grandmother, Thelma Lanham of North Carolina; maternal aunts, Angela (Robert) Fogle of Cumberland, Ohio, Brieann (Eric) Reiter of Caldwell, and Heather (Mike) Lemke of Pedricktown, N.J.; paternal aunt and uncles, Mac Childress of Columbus, Lawrence Brown of Newport and Elizabeth Petrie of Belpre; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Deborah Childress; and her great-grandfather, Noah Carpenter.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newport Cemetery in Newport with the Rev. Loren Dace officiating. There will be no visitation. Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.

NEWPORT — Deborah M. Childress, 45, of Newport Route 1 died at 8 am. Thursday (Aug. 21, 1997) at Cleveland Clinic.
She was born Sept. 18, 1951, in Fort Pierce, Fla., to William C. and Peggy Lahnam Bishop. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her parents of Senoya, Ga.; her husband, Thomas M. Childress, whom she married Aug. 8, 1972, in Atlanta; three sons, George M. Childress of Newport, William M. Childress of St. Marys, W.Va., and Lawrence C. Brown and his wife, Stephani, of Reno; one daughter, Elizabeth L. Childress of Newport; three brothers, Frank Mickle and his wife, Lenore, of Forest Park, Ga., William C. Bishop Jr. and his wife, Becky, and Paul Bishop and his wife, Irene, all of McDonough, Ga.; three sisters, Sheri Weathers and her husband, Keith, of Senoya, Ellen Clary and her husband, William, of Covington, Ga., and Lillian Britton and her husband, Howe, of Huntsville, Ala.; and her grandmother, Thelma Lahnam of High Point, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Fred Lahnam.
Services are at the convenience of the family Saturday at Hadley Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial is in Newport Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Earl Martin Chipps
LOWELL — Earl Martin Chipps, 67, of Lowell, died Saturday (Sept. 6, 1992) while on a golf outing at North Bend Golf Course in Harrisville, W.Va.
He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Smithfield, W.Va., to Archie and Jetta Norris Chipps. He had lived in Lowell since 1967 and had retired in 1982 from the Fort Frye School District as an elementary teacher, having taught at Lowell Elementary School, In recent years, he had worked part time at True Value Hardware in Lowell. He was a graduate of Salem College Salem. W. Va.; World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and a member of American Legion Post 750 in Lowell. He was also a member of Lowell United Methodist Church and a past president of the Methodist Men’s Club.
Mr. Chipps is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marguerite Delores Swisher Chipps; one daughter, Terry Lynne Hendershot of Whipple; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Strahler of Clarksburg. W.Va., and Velma Underwood of Salem, W.Va.; five brothers, Edward and Roy of Salem, W.Va., Willis of Oakton, Va., Austin of Fowler and Paul of Sebring. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Alfred and Arby.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday n Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Ebert officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Lowell with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 750. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

W. R. Clark

W.R. “Ray” Clark, 86, Coolville Rt. 1, died Thursday in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born in Decatur Twp., Washington County, a son of the late Benjamin F. and Maria Patterson Clark. He was a retired farmer from the Ireland community of Troy Twp.
His wife Ella died in 1974. A son Wendell and three brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death. One daughter survives, Mrs. Russell (Lois) Daugherty, Coolville, with seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in White Funeral Home, Coolville, with the Rev. Roy Deeter officiating. Burial will be in Coolville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Glen Clift
Glen Clift, 85, of Newport Rt. 1, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday in Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug 30, 1896, in Sudbury County, Iowa to Herman and Maude Pierce Clift. His home had been in the Archers Fork community until 1941 when the family moved to Newport He was a member of the Newport Church Christ. Clift had been an oil and gas well producer and tool dresser for 71 years.
On Nov. 20, 1933, he married Minnie Iva Hutchison. She died Dec. 27, 1974. He is survived by one son; Jack Clift of Newport Rt 1; and one sister Mrs. John (Marie) Decker of New Matamoras Rt. 1.. He was preceded death by four brothers and three sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Newport Church of Christ with Randy Matheny officiating Burial will be in Newport Cemetery. Friends may call at the McC1ure-Schafer Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Wednesday and at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of service.

NEWPORT — Ethel M. Cline, 99, c Newport Route 1 died Saturday (Sept 30, 1995) at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born June 25, 1896, in Newport to Barnard D. and Ida M. Bergy Smith. She was a member of the Newport Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Michael, with whom she made her home; one daughter, Edna Pauline Maki of Lancaster; one brother, William Smith of St. Marys, W.Va.; one sister, Mildred Olmstead of Ferndale, Wash.; two grandchildren, James Bailey of Canton and Helen Chambers of Lancaster; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bert” Cline, in 1964; two daughters, Mildred May Cline and Thelma Marie Cline Bailey; five brothers, Barney D. Smith, Larry C. Smith, George Smith, Brady Smith and Charles Smith; and one grandson; and one great-grandson.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. Marys with Pastor Joe Law officiating. Burial is in Newport Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Lawrence Cline
VICTIM DIES OF CRUSHED CHEST
Worker Attacked In Fog-Covered Fearing Twp. Field
A 1,500-pound he had been teasing charged Lawrence Cline, 28, of Marietta Rt. 6 and fatally crushed him in a fog-covered Fearing Twp. pasture Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s department.
Cline, his wife, and small daughter lived in a house trailer at the Dan Zimmer & Sons farm where Cline had worked as a farm hand for the past month. Early Sunday morning he was helping Paul Zimmer, who was milking cows. Noticing one of the cows was missing, Zimmer sought Cline intending to have him bring the cow from the pasture.
BULL HAD NO HORNS
Zimmer told deputies he heard Cline call for help and found him lying in the pasture, his chest crushed. Cline told Zimmer he had been attacked by the bull, which he did not see because of the fog. The bull had no horns.
Cline was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital in the Doudna & McClure ambulance. He was dead on arrival. Acting Coroner Edgar Northrup said Cline died as a result of a crushed chest and called the death accidental.
Deputies were told that Cline had been teasing the Holstein bull occasionally since going to work at the Zimmer farm on Township Road 343.
Cline was born at Ben’s Run, W.Va., Oct. 5, 1933, a son of Edward and Elizabeth Elder Cline. On July 12, 1960, he married Kathleen Treadway who survives with one daughter, Suzanne Marie Cline, two years of age, of the home. His parents of Wingett Run, survive with three brothers and one sister; Dale Cline with the U.S. Air Force in Montana, Ray Cline and George Cline of Marietta, and Mrs. Ruth Hayhurst of Williamstown.
Cline had served in the U.S, Air Force. He attended the Church of God.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church o of God on Mulberry ST., with the Rev. Luchen Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at Doudna & McClure Funeral Home until the hour of the service.
