We are so pleased to have Newport residents, present and former, send us their memories. The following is from a letter written by Betsy Lallathin in December of 2008.
My childhood friend Bonnie Clark who lived beside me in Newport told me this at her Christmas party.
During the depression her father (who was out of work) painted the big Greenwood house for a cow. He had 8-9 children; [he] had milk and meat if he needed it. He pastured it at Ethel Hays home out on Greene Street in the summer. I enjoyed this story of the past.
