Wren, Kitty



NEWPORT - Kathryn "Kitty" Wren, 88, of Newport, Ohio, passed away
Sunday morning (March 20, 2011) at her home with her family by her side.



She was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Newport, a daughter of the late Dr. George H.
and Carolyn E McGrew Gale. She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church
and the Altar Society. She had been a registered nurse for all of her life. She
was the first plant nurse at American Cyanamid in 1946, and had been a nurse
for 15 years at Union Carbide (Witco). She had been a former EMT with the
Newport EMS, had been a member of the advisory board of the Pleasants County
Boys and Girls Club, and had been a member of the board of directors of the
Pleasants County Bank for over 20 years. She enjoyed taking care of her home and
family.



She is survived by her son, William A. Wren II. and his wife, Deborah,
grandson, Dylan Wren, all of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
William A. Wren, on Nov. 6, 1981; two brothers, George T. Gale and Dr. Larrey
B. Gale; and two sisters, Nina Gale and Mary Hurley.



A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (March 23, 2011)
at St. John's Catholic Church, St. Marys, W.Va., with Father Paul Manickathan
and Father Tim Huffman officiating. Interment will be in Newport Cemetery,
Newport. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ingram Funeral
Home, St. Marys, W.Va., where a rosary service will be held at 8 p.m.
