Newport December 27th, 1935 – Funeral services for Frank Hays were held at the home on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Rev. M. D. Cunningham of Otsego was in charge, assisted by Rev. Mr. Bashford. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jones and father, [R.] Jones, of Steubenville. Miss Alice Glosow of Bellaire and J. A. Cree and son, James, of Utica.

 

News of Newport,

Mrs. H. G. Heeter entertained with an “old friends” party in honor of Mrs. H. D. Hughes on her birthday anniversary, December 20, at the Heeter home. The evening was pleasantly spent in conversation. At a later hour a chicken dinner was served. During the evening Mrs. Hughes was presented with a lovely floor lamp.

 

A daughter was born to Mrs. Hildreth Shaw Williams at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Shaw., on Saturday night.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Snowden of Dallas, Pa. are spending the Christmas vacation with friends and relatives here.

 

Ray Carpenter of Weston, W. Va. visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. Carpenter, on Friday and Saturday.

 

Miss Evelyn Uppole, who is attending Ohio University at Athens, is spending the Christmas vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Uppole.

 

Mrs. Alice Fred of Bellaire is visiting at home for the holidays.

 

Misses Mary Carolyn and Kathryn Gale returned home from school at New Lexington to spend the Christmas vacation.

 

Mrs. Frank Hardy of Watertown, Mass., is spending some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. W. Greene.

 

Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Kerr went to Michigan to spend the holiday week there with their children.

 

Mr. And Mrs. Howard Reynolds of Pittsburgh, Pa. are home for the Christmas vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Reynolds.
